American Association of University Women (AAUW)

Since 1881, AAUW has promoted equity for women and girls, lifelong education and positive societal change. As a national association, AAUW advocates for social issues related to education, civil rights, health care, reproductive choice, employment, gender fairness, and diversity.

The Educational Foundation (EF) provides funds to advance education, research and self-development for women in higher education. In conducting landmark research, EF has recently published Under the Microscope: A Decade of Gender Equity Projects in the Sciences; Tech-Savvy: Educating Girls in the New Computer Age; Si, Se Puede! Yes, We Can: Latinas in School; Hostile Hallways: Bullying, Teasing, and Sexual Harassment in School; and The Third Shift: Women Learning Online.

The Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination. LAF has helped female students, faculty, and administrators challenge discriminatory practices involving sexual harassment, pay inequity, denial of tenure and promotion, and inequality in women's athletics programs.

AAUW offers membership to anyone with an associate or equivalent degree. With a membership of over 100,000, AAUW functions at the national, state and local levels and has 600 college/university partners nationwide. AAUW also forms collaborative partnerships with other similar-minded organizations in order to achieve specific goals.
