The Medical Foundation
Since its inception nearly fifty years ago, The Medical Foundation has been working on the region’s most pressing health issues, including substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, cancer, tobacco, and violence. The mission of TMF is to help people live healthier lives and create healthy communities through prevention, health promotion, and research. TMF addresses public health issues through carefully crafted, multifaceted programs and services that consider a community-wide perspective. Because TMF’s mission is aligned with that of many of the clients it serves, it is able to provide strategic, community-based services.
TMF houses and manages a wide range of statewide services to help raise awareness about public health issues among consumers, professionals, and the community at large. These include the Massachusetts Health Promotion Clearinghouse, the Massachusetts Substance Abuse Information and Education Helpline, and the Massachusetts Partnership for Healthy Communities. TMF works in partnership with public, private, and non profit organizations, and offers: strategic social marketing and communication campaign services; assessment and evaluation of a community’s health and human service needs; technical assistance to build capacity for healthy communities; and training to public health professionals, community members, and youth in a number of public health areas.
