As we approach our STEM Funder Briefing in Boston, coming up in early October, we want to be sure to continue to provide great STEM related resources for parents and providers!
Research shows that having role models is critical for girls to imagine the possibilities for themselves and their futures. Sharing with girls information about women in the STEM fields who are blazing trails and tackling incredible new challenges is a great way to provide girls with those much needed role models.
The National Geographic Emerging Explorers Program provides just that kind of opportunity. The Emerging Explorers Program "recognizes and supports uniquely gifted and inspiring young adventurers, scientists, photographers, and storytellers—explorers who are already making a difference early in their careers."
The best part is, they highlight these amazing trailblazers on their website! These are great women to feature in programming activities, to share with a girl who is interested in science, or to incorporate in discussions about career paths.
Here are some of the great female role models who are a part of the 2009 National Geographic Emerging Explorers Program. Click on their names to learn more about their amazing work!
