Over 75 guests, including community leaders, partners, and supporters, gathered alongside the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce to honor the vision of TCGC’s Founder and CEO, Shala Edwards. Her unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for young girls in Indian River County and beyond has been the driving force behind the organization’s remarkable journey.

    Weekly Insights works in conjunction with Indian River Indicators. Indian River Indicators was launched in June 2021 and originated after the completion of the 2019 Indian River Community Needs Assessment. It provides key data and information about our community that is updated annually and can be used to support and sustain proven programs. It can also be used by community leaders to develop policy, promote promising practices and inspire innovation that can lead to solutions to persistent community challenges.

    Treasure Coast Girls Coalition CEO Represents at Prestigious UN Summit

    Shala Edwards, CEO of Treasure Coast Girls Coalition (TCGC), recently participated in the 7th Annual Africa Open for Business Summit at the United Nations, held during the 79th General Assembly High-Level Week. This global event, organized by the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN) and the Permanent Mission of Senegal, brought together world leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to advance Africa’s economic and social development.

    Edwards joined the panel “Business and Culture: Young Entrepreneurs of African Descent Driving Sustainable Development”, where she emphasized the importance of STEAM education, digital literacy, and gender equality in addressing key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also engaged with distinguished leaders at a VIP luncheon, discussing economic empowerment and leadership for sustainable change.

    “Participating in this summit was a proud moment for our grassroots organization, demonstrating how local efforts can contribute to global progress,” said Edwards.

    Her involvement underscores TCGC’s commitment to empowering young girls through education, leadership, and career development, aligning with the summit’s focus on innovation and cross-cultural collaboration.
